Val’s Peanut Brittle

Old-fashioned peanut brittle candy

Ingredients:

- 1/2 cup water

- 1 cup white Karo corn syrup

- 2 cups white sugar

- 1 stick butter

- 2 cups raw peanuts

- 2 teaspoons baking soda

- 2 teaspoons vanilla


Steps:

1. In a heavy pan, combine water, corn syrup, and sugar; heat to 200°F while stirring constantly.

2. Add butter; continue stirring.

3. At 250°F add peanuts; keep stirring!

4. At 295°F remove from heat and add baking soda and vanilla; beat well.

5. Pour onto buttered cookie sheet or table; pull from edges with forks until thin; finish pulling by hand when cool enough.


Notes:

- Never rush or it will stick!
