Sourdough Starter (Alt.)

Simple yeast-based starter

Ingredients:

- 2 cups flour

- 2 cups water

- 1 package yeast


Steps:

1. Use only glass or Pyrex. Leave mix overnight in warm place, cover with loose lid.

2. To make bread: combine 4 cups flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons oil, 2 cups starter; add more water or flour to desired consistency.

3. Knead well; let rise 3 hours covered.

4. Add 1/4 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in 1 tablespoon warm water; knead again.

5. Shape into loaves; let rise to double.

6. Bake 375°F 1 hour.


Notes:

- To remake starter: starter dough + 2 cups flour + 2 cups water
