Beef Stew (Stovetop)

Traditional beef stew thickened with flour slurry

- 1 lb steak or roast, cut into 1-inch pieces

Steps:

1. Brown the beef in a pan or pot.

2. Add beef broth, bay leaf, crushed thyme, and black pepper. Cook 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender.

3. Sauté the carrots (and onion if desired — phrasing preserved exactly) until softened.

4. Add potatoes and cook 10 minutes.

5. Add carrots and onion; cook 10 more minutes.

6. Mix 2 tablespoons flour with 1/4 cup water until smooth; stir into broth to thicken.

7. Simmer until vegetables are tender.


Notes:

- Serves 4.

- Sprinkle lightly with Lawry’s seasoned salt before serving
