4. Remove from heat.
5. Stir in baking soda and vanilla and beat well until foamy and well blended.
6. Pour immediately into the greased mould or pan.
7. Allow to cool, then sprinkle 3–5 tablespoons chocolate chips over the top and spread as they melt.
8. Sprinkle additional chopped pecans over the melted chocolate layer.
Notes:
- Cook to 200°F and a light brown stage.
- Spread thin and avoid rushing while hot to prevent sticking.
- Top with chocolate chips after cooking and cooling slightly for best melt.
